Q: Do you coach high school or college beach volleyball athletes?
A: Absolutely, we have several high school and collegiate beach volleyball athletes. We are very excited to be part of the growing game of beach volleyball as a collegiate sport. Contact us if you would like more information.
Q: Do you teach weekends or weekdays?
A: Both. We offer classes year round. (depending on approved LA County permits)
Q: What are the class weather cancellation policies?
A: If it's too windy or rainy to have class, we'll probably go to the local restaurant or pub and do "SBV chalk talk"! If the weather clears up, which it can do very quickly here in Southern California, we will go back out to continue class. It is up to the athlete to make up classes canceled due to weather. Further, classes must be made up within the 6 week session they are registered for. We will update our Facebook page as an easy way to reach all of our athletes the day of. Visit www.Facebook.com/southbayvolleyball. If you haven't already, please click the "Like" button and get real time information. Classes will meet on the beach near 4th street in Manhattan Beach unless otherwise noted. There are no refunds or rollovers of payment to future classes under any circumstance.
Q: How many students do you have per class?
A: We typically keep the number to 12-14 per class.
Q: How much are Private Lessons?
A: We have several options. Contact us for more info. Private lesson packages must be utilized with 1 year of start date. For private lessons, we require a minimum of 24 hours notice for cancellations.
Q: Do you have tournaments?
A: Not usually. Since the CBVA does such a wonderful job creating tournament opportunities for our athletes, we usually funnel our athletes in their direction.
Q: What is the average age of the athletes in classes?
A: Since our classes are level specific, we aren't concerned too much about age. For really young athletes, we suggest private lessons to develop the proper skills.
Q: What if I miss class?
A: Due to LA County beach permits and their new policies, we are required to have a maximum number of athletes on the beach at one time. We will no longer be able to schedule make up classes via text or email prior to the actual start of class time of each class. If we have a smaller number the day of class, and you're present, we can allow for a makeup class as long as we don't exceed our maximum number of occupants on the beach.
Q: How will I know if classes get canceled the day of class or for holidays?
A: Most of the time we know well in advance if we have to work classes around a certain date. Unfortunately, some situations occur that leave us unable to have class without much notice. In the case of wind/rain/flooding etc...see Q/A above. If we need to cancel a class for whatever reason, we will provide options for our athletes to make sure they get their paid training time. We kindly request your flexibility on our make up date. In case of any last minute cancellation, we will try and contact you directly as well as leave status updates on our Facebook page.
